If you change your TU AD password, you must also change it everywhere the old password is still stored.
This is because the TU AD password is used not only for your emails, but also for other TU services such as TUcloud, TUwiki, TUfiles, etc.
An overview of the services for which the TU-AD password is used can be found here: Services and passwords for employees

Before you change your password, think carefully about where it is currently stored – for example, in email programs, in the browser or on mobile devices.

Because: If a device or program continues to attempt to log in with the old password in the background, this can quickly lead to multiple failed login attempts. If there are too many failed attempts, your upTUdate account will be locked for 30 minutes.

If you only access your upTUdate mailbox from one device, you can simply enter the new password the first time.

However, even if you have saved the password on this device for other TU services (such as TUownCloud, TUwiki, TUfiles, TUprint, etc.), your account may be temporarily locked – namely, if you forget to change the password there as well.

In many cases, the TU-AD password is stored on multiple devices – for example, on PCs, laptops, mobile phones, or tablets. It can also be stored in multiple apps (clients) on a single device.

  1. Therefore, before changing your password, consider which devices and programs have your old password saved on them.
  2. Close all these programs or disconnect the devices from the internet. This prevents any client from connecting in the background using the old password.
  3. After changing your password, go through each device one at a time: Reconnect to the internet or launch the app. Then, enter your new password when prompted.
