Service description

Distributed network storage based on Ceph. Clients have the option to mount/access block device (RBD), file system (CephFS or NFS) or S3 object storage.

The storage size allocated by the client is easily scalable. The storage type offered is either hot storage (NVMe) for performance-demanding applications or cold storage (HDD) for archiving applications.

High availability is achieved by 4 copies of each object in 4 separate racks, distributed across 2 data centers: PRZ in Freihaus and ARZ in Gußhaus.

  • larger network storage capacity >1TB,
  • network speed >25G,
  • high data availability - 4 replicas,
  • mount as cephfs or NFS
  • dedicated VLAN for storage

StorageNG by croit is easily scalable. More capacity is achieved simply by booting new nodes into the Ceph network or by adding new or larger disks to the existing nodes.

The Ceph backend network is 100G for data movement between storage nodes. Smaller customers have access via 25G TU switches. For larger customers there is the option of a direct connection to the 100G Ceph network.

No automatic backup, customers have to take care of backing up their data in a separate solution. Data snapshots are offered in the same storage space and protect against accidental deletion of data or ransomware attacks.
