Upgrade primary ACOnet connection from 10 to 100 Gigabit Ethernet

On February 24, 2022, the main connection of the TU Wien to the ACOnet will be converted to a higher speed in a maintenance window between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Since the TU Wien was the first Austrian university to convert this from 1 to 10 Gigabit in February 2009, thirteen years later - again as one of the first Austrian universities - we are taking the step to 100 Gigabit Ethernet between border and Wien1-NIG with active support from ACOnet. The TU Wiens backup connection (via stargate to Wien21-Interxion) will not be converted for the time being and will automatically take over responsibility for Internet traffic during maintenance work. So there should be no service interruption of the internet service.

Changes to end devices in TUnet are not required. The changeover is deliberately being carried out during normal operation in order to be able to promptly check the quality of service with the corresponding live traffic volume and, if necessary, to receive quick feedback from our valued TUnet users and TU admins.

We will try to keep any downtime as short as possible and thank you for your understanding!

Update 16:30: The Upgrade of the primary ACOnet connection from 10G to 100G was successfully completed within the scheduled maintenance window.
