TUphone - Changes to the connections of the central phone system and to the availability of work cell phones via '90 and speed dial'

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, starting at 6:00 a.m., the telephone connections will be switched over to A1 Telekom Austria. Temporary service interruptions may occur throughout the day. As part of this transition, the previous speed dial code '90 and speed dial numbers' for work cell phones (A1 Network) will no longer be available. From that point on, you will need to dial the full phone number.

During the transition, the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) may be temporarily unreachable by phone at +43 1 58801. Outgoing calls should not be affected.

After the transition, depending on the destination, you may experience issues with call setup or with the display of phone numbers (for outgoing calls, the dialed number; for incoming calls, the caller’s number).

There may also be issues with external callers reaching TU Wien.

If you notice any such issues, please open a ticket. 

We will need the following information:

  • Who made the call?
  • Was the call incoming or outgoing?
  • The time of the phone call
  • The caller’s phone number
  • The recipient’s phone number
  • The status/description of the problem (e.g., unable to make a call, incorrect number display)
