The process for ordering and cancelling the TUclient service has now also been migrated to the TUshop

Following extensive data cleansing and adjustments to the service, TUclients can now be ordered and cancelled via the TUshop

Good things come to those who wait. In line with this principle, the TUclient service has been thoroughly overhauled and prepared for future enhancements. Over the past few months, a number of service changes have gradually been rolled out, including the following:

  • For security reasons, computers covered by support no longer have a freely accessible admin user.
  • Computer support can be ordered or cancelled separately. This restores full access to the computer for admin users. This also includes the option to install other operating systems (typically Linux distributions). Licences bundled with this service can be ordered or cancelled separately.
  • Automated client management for computers covered by support has been migrated to a new system. This means that Linux and macOS systems can also be maintained to the same high standard in future.
  • The basic installation is carried out fully automatically by the client management system, thereby ensuring an error-free installation with the latest updates.
To conserve resources, items such as mice, keyboards, monitors and similar accessories can be deselected when placing an order. This makes it possible to order either the standard complete package or just the computer hardware.
  • TUclient customers can order peripheral devices (such as mice, keyboards, headsets, monitors, docking stations, etc.) separately at any time.
In the case of a replacement order (hardware replacement), the discount is still applied even if you switch to a different category of computer. You can therefore, for example, switch from an office desktop to a science laptop.
  • Under ‘My Hardware’, you can see whether a hardware replacement order is already possible.

Now it was time for the major migration to the TUshop, so that all these new features could be easily implemented via self-service. Orders (including hardware replacement orders) and cancellations can now be placed via the TUshop. The usual TUshop procedures apply, including approval processes, as described in detail in the manual, opens an external URL in a new window. You can also find information about your hardware under Workplace → My Hardware.

Over the next few days, orders that have not yet been migrated from tickets will be migrated, so that all TUclients can be viewed and managed via the TUshop.

However, this does not mark the end of the TUclient service renewal phase. New features will be added to the TUshop over the coming months. These include:

  • Ordering peripheral equipment
  • Ordering a user change (data protection-compliant transfer of devices within the organisational unit)
  • Requesting support for devices under maintenance
  • Ordering TUsoftware with automatic installation on the device
  • Better overviews for license managers for hardware licences

We will let you know when new features become available.
