Maintenance work TUnet backbone Campus Karlsplatz

Maintenance window on Thursday, September 8, 2022 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Update 2:00 p.m. : The maintenance work has been completed successfully.

Part of the building backbone router system for the Karlsplatz area will be replaced in a maintenance window on Thursday, September 8, 2022 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Within this time, there will be an interruption of all TUnet services in parts of the Karlsplatz campus for a maximum of 10 minutes in the affected campus areas.

The replacement is absolutely necessary because some of the hardware in use is outdated and has been discontinued by the manufacturer for some time and the maintenance contract will irrevocably expire shortly.

Affected are various distribution rooms on the Karlsplatz campus (A) as well as the buildings Erzherzog-Johann-Platz 1/Gusshausstraße 28 (FA, FB, FC) and Favoritenstraße 16 (HK04). During the specified maintenance window, there will be interruptions in TUnet services such as Internet access for wired TUnet LAN connections of workstations and servers, as well as in WLAN and TUphone (VoIP telephony) for a maximum of 10 minutes in the areas listed. This also applies to GuT access systems and cameras. Communication between workstations and the server housing in the Freihaus may also be briefly restricted as a result.

We will endeavour to keep the interruptions as short as possible and thank you for your understanding.

No changes to your end systems are necessary. If you suspect a problem after completing the maintenance work carried out, please first check the network settings of your system or contact the IT contact person at your institute.
