Update and harmonization of the anti-virus software products offered

Sophos Antivirus is enhanced, Avira Antivirus and Symantec Endpoint Protection will be discontinued

We are pleased to announce that we have been able to add the exploit-prevention module to the well-known Sophos antivirus software to increase the security of the work place computers. This add-on module offers enhanced protection against exploits and crypto threats. Existing licensees are asked to install the current version from the software distribution server. For employees, the price will be raised to € 0.75 per quarter from July 1, 2020, and the price for students will remain unchanged at € 3.

The new Sophos antivirus software is now also available for employees for work@home computers (also privately owned). Details can be found on the Sophos product page, opens an external URL in a new window.

The contracts for the classic alternatives Avira Antivirus and Symantec Endpoint Protection are no longer renewed and therefore the products will be discontinued shortly (details will be emailed to all licensees). At the end of the year, Sophos will therefore be the only desktop antivirus solution for the campus and student software.
