Delivery problems with emails from students (from @student.tuwien.ac.at addresses) fixed

Affected service: Email for students

Affected users: Students and recipients of emails sent to internal TU addresses (e.g. @it.tuwien.ac.at, @asc.tuwien.ac.at, @geo.tuwien.ac.at, etc.)

Status: Fixed

Period of disruption: July 3, 2025, approx. 6:00 a.m. – July 4, 2025, approx. 10:00 a.m.

During the above-mentioned period, there were delivery problems with emails sent from @student.tuwien.ac.at addresses to internal addresses. The senders affected received automated error messages with an SPF error message.

The cause was an internal adjustment to the certificate configuration in the TU Wien email system. This change was necessary to meet new security requirements of external communication partners, but unintentionally led to disruptions in internal email delivery.

The configuration has now been adjusted and the problem has been completely resolved. Deliveries are working as usual again.

If you continue to experience problems with email delivery, please contact the CIT Service Centre at help@it.tuwien.ac.at.
