Microsoft activation has been renewed

You can now fully automate Microsoft activation.

A long-standing request for greater convenience when activating Microsoft products has now been implemented. The new activation script from version 2.1.0.0 uses new activation mechanisms and can therefore be fully automated. Please note that all computers maintained by CIT will be automatically converted and therefore no action is required on your part. Furthermore, this change only affects Windows licenses from the TUshop and all Office LTSC versions; O365 and MacOS use a different licensing procedure and are not affected by this change.

The following applies to all computers not maintained by CIT:

  • The activation script will be updated right away. This will happen either in the activation script itself or by running the TUtoolbox again.
  • Starting with version 2.1.0.0, you will be prompted to link your computer to a license belonging to you in the TUshop when you use the software for the first time. This link must be created for each product (Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Office LTSC, Viso LTSC, Project LTSC). If you are a license administrator, you can perform this process for all users you manage (including org users). When linking, you must authenticate with your upTUdate account.
  • After linking, activation takes place without further input, provided that no significant changes are made to your computer.
  • If you change computers, you can delete the link in the TUshop for the linked license by selecting Edit → Delete KMS info and then use the license on another computer.
  • In the automation guide, you can read how to automate the activation process so that you no longer have to start the manual activation process yourself in the future.
  • Please note that the new activation script does not support EOL operating systems.

All information about the new KMS activation can be found on our help page, opens an external URL in a new window, where you can also download the two quick guides with screenshots.
