Campussoftware 1password in test mode

The password manager 1password is now in test mode in the Campussoftware

1password is a well-known password manager that is now also tested at the Vienna University of Technology to increase password security. During the implementation, special attention was paid to the co-operative use within the TU Wien. Therefore shared vaults can be created, detailed permissions can be set for every vault, and TISS groups can be used for permissions.

Two campus software products are therefore offered: The 1password team member, opens an external URL in a new window and the 1password group administrator, opens an external URL in a new window. Only a group administrator can create shared vaults and thus initially has ownership rights.

To make the employees private password area more secure, a family account is included with every TU license free of charge, which can be used privately (for a fee) after the license is canceled.

1password is currently being tested in practice with a limited number of licenses and - if the tests are successful - will be transferred to regular operation in 2021. Further information on the use of password managers and security questions in general, can be found in the new coLAB area Security Good Practice, opens an external URL in a new window and personally from Mr. Hartweger.
