Changes to Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft announces changes to Microsoft Authenticator at short notice

Microsoft Authenticator is an app for Android and iOS that offers the TOTP standard as well as the Microsoft standard for two-factor authentication. Microsoft has now decided that passwords should be managed centrally by Microsoft. As a result, the part of the app that stores passwords and financial data will be discontinued by August 2025. The 2-factor authentication features will remain unaffected.

However, if you also use the app to store passwords, please export your passwords immediately, as they will no longer be accessible after August 2025.

CIT recommends 1password as a password manager. This application is available in the TUshop, opens an external URL in a new window.
