UPDATE as of 6/8/2021:

With the start of the first lockdown on 3/16/2020, there was an acute need for a scalable video conferencing tool. At the time, GoToMeeting quickly proved to be the best solution: Within a few days, thousands of licenses were made available to all employees of the TU Wien. The necessary license agreement was signed only a few days later on 3/25/2020 and included a 3-month free subscription followed by the usual 12-month subscription.

However, this contract had to be terminated (on time) on 5/25/2021 after consultation with the Rectorate, as the only option of a further 12-month extension was no longer justifiable both for cost reasons and due to the lack of privacy implementation and accessibility. As a result, the availability of GoToMeeting will unfortunately end automatically on 6/25/2021.

We hope for understanding and comprehensibility of this decision and apologise for the resulting inconvenience at the end of the semester.

At the beginning of the Corona crisis, GoToMeeting quickly became an indispensable tool in the daily home office.

After 15 months, approx. 59,130 meetings and a total of approx. 3,165,620 meeting minutes, we will no longer extend the contract with LogMeIn after consultation with the Rectorate. This therefore will end on June 25, 2021. Both the accessibility check and the data protection aspects of GoToMeeting produced negative results, which speaks against the widespread use of this tool at the TU.

We therefore request to switch to the product Zoom, opens an external URL in a new window as part of this strategic decision.
