Use of VSC (Vienna Scientific Cluster)
You get access to the Vienna Scientific Cluster if your project has successfully passed a peer review process, exhibits scientific excellence and requires extremely high computing power.
If the project has already been positively reviewed by a recognised funding body such as the FWF, the EU, etc., no further review process is required.
Please submit your project(s) to the Vienna Scientific Cluster at service.vsc.ac.at, opens an external URL in a new window (the submission process is described at vsc.ac.at/access, opens an external URL in a new window).
The fourth stage of the Vienna Scientific Cluster is located in the Vienna Arsenal and has been in operation since 2019. The VSC-4 currently occupies 82nd place in the TOP500 list, opens an external URL in a new window (as of June 2019) of the world's fastest supercomputers.

Since 2014, the third expansion stage in the Vienna Arsenal has been in operation. The VSC-3 occupied 85th place in the TOP500 list, opens an external URL in a new window of the world's fastest supercomputers and 86th place in the Green500 list of the world's most energy-efficient supercomputers (as of November 2014). Green IT determined the choice of the VSC-3; particular emphasis was placed on energy-saving processors and an efficient cooling system with synthetic oil, which removes the heat generated during operation.

Training program of the VSC Research Center
We offer you a training program tailored to the use of supercomputers which, for example, supports users in optimizing and parallelizing programs. These courses can be attended by members of the partner universities as well as - if free places are available - by external students.
