The way to a business mobile phone

  • Contact the TUphone authorized person to release your structure element (your organizational unit) and clarify whether there is already an A1 billing address. If not, he must create it, see "Creating a GSM Telephone Charge Account".
  • Apply online for a voice SIM card, see "Applying for a SIM card", or - if desired - transfer your existing A1 phone number to the A1 Network of the TU Wien, see "Phone numbers - Transfer".
  • Alternatively, the TUphone certifying officer can apply for a SIM card for an employee himself. The TUphone certifying officer must now release your application after a request by email (he can make changes).
  • Your application will be processed by TU.it. After activation, you will be notified by email.
  • If you have applied for a SIM card, you will receive a follow-up form for it. You can use this or your TUcard to pick up the SIM card at the TU.it Service Center.
  • If you have initiated a telephone number transfer, the procedure will be confirmed.
  • TU.it does not recommend the purchase of certain mobile phone models, see Mobile Phone Procurement.

Using the list of their own "A1 Network Telephones", each employee can apply for a new A1 Network number after validation using the TUaccount password:
https://iu.zid.tuwien.ac.at/TUphone.a1Phones, opens an external URL in a new window

A four-digit speed dial can be selected from a speed dial pool that may be reserved for the organizational unit in question, or a desired other speed dial can be entered in the Speed Dial field.

You can select "Internal", "Austria" or "Worldwide" as the authorization category.

The GSM telephone charge account can be selected from the existing accounts of the organizational unit or left blank. (In this case, the person entitled to release the TUphone must then define the account.)

Private call disconnection can be selected (see Private Calls). For this purpose, the form completed by the user must be sent to TU.it.

If desired, Internet access can be deactivated via the voice SIM card. If data traffic is to be possible, a data package of a suitable size can be selected, for which an additional monthly fee will be charged. Without a data package, the actual data traffic is charged according to the DATA BASIS tariff (see tariff overview).

In addition to the requested voice SIM card, a separate data SIM card can be requested. No SIM card fee is charged for this data SIM card, only the selected data package.

There is currently no electronic workflow available for requesting a data SIM card for an existing voice SIM card or without a voice SIM card. In this case, the application for the data SIM card must be made by a TUphone person entitled to release the data SIM card by sending an email to help@it.tuwien.ac.at . The email should contain the user of the data SIM card as well as the desired data volume. For data SIM cards without a voice SIM card, the account for billing must also be specified if several GSM telephone charge accounts come into question.

If an application for a new A1 Network number has been successfully submitted, the responsible TUphone certifying officer will receive an email telling him that this application is waiting for approval. Before the release is carried out, the TUphone certifying officer still has the option of making changes to the application (e.g. changes to the authorization category or to the selected TC charge account).

As soon as the application has been approved, it can be processed by TU.it employees.

Once the SIM card has been activated, an email with a follow-up form is immediately sent to the employee submitting the application. With this or your TUcard, the SIM card can be collected from the Service Center of TU.it.

If this employee has not entered an email delivery address in the TISS address book, he or she will be contacted by TU.it employees.

  • When applying for a voice SIM card, a data SIM card can also be applied for immediately.
  • There is currently no electronic workflow available for applying for a data SIM card for an existing voice SIM card or without a voice SIM card. In this case, the application for the data SIM card must be made by a TUphone person entitled to release the data by email to help@it.tuwien.ac.at . The email should contain the user of the data SIM card as well as the desired data volume. For data SIM cards without a voice SIM card, the account for billing must also be specified if several GSM telephone charge accounts come into question.

Each TUphone certifying officer who is authorized for all accounts of the organizational unit can also create new GSM telephone charge accounts via the list of telephone charge accounts of his/her organizational unit after validation using the TUaccount password:
https://, opens an external URL in a new windowoase.it., opens an external URL in a new windowtuwien.ac.at/TUphone.accounts, opens an external URL in a new window

The TUphone user must first decide whether a new billing address or only a new cost center is to be created for an existing billing address.

Name and address are only relevant if a new billing address is created.

The desired name of the A1 cost center (max. 10 alphanumeric characters) must be entered.

If several SIM cards are to be grouped on an A1 bill, a separate GSM telephone charge account with the same billing address must be created for each cost center.

Transfer of an existing telephone number of an employee as an official mobile phone to the A1 Network contract of the TU Wien:

The form for the transmission of the telephone number can be requested by email to help@it.tuwien.ac.at. In this form only two points have to be filled in by yourself:

  • personal data/company data of the previous customer (top left)
  • Drawing of previous customer (bottom left)

The completed form must be sent to TU.it attn. Mrs. Inge Schlossnikl.

Furthermore you have to proceed (like when applying for a new SIM card):

Using the list of their own "A1 Network Telephones", each employee can apply for a new A1 Network number after validation using the TUpassword:
https://, opens an external URL in a new windowoase.it., opens an external URL in a new windowtuwien.ac.at/TUphone.a1Phones, opens an external URL in a new window

You can select "Internal", "Austria" or "Worldwide" as the authorization category.

The GSM telephone charge account can be selected from the existing accounts of the organizational unit or can be left blank. (In this case, the person entitled to release the TUphone must then determine the account.)

Private call disconnection can be selected (see Private Calls). For this purpose, the form completed by the user must be sent to TU.it.

Once the data SIM card has been activated, the desired hardware can be ordered in the same way as the mobile phone.

The telephone number to be transmitted must be the previously private number, which is to be integrated into the A1 Network contract of the TU Wien as a business mobile phone.

As soon as the application has been approved and we have received the completed form, it can be processed by TU.it employees.

After the phone number has been transferred to the A1 Network of the TU Wien, an email will immediately be sent to the applying employee.

If this employee has not entered an email delivery address in the TISS address book, he or she will be contacted by TU.it employees.

The transfer of a private telephone number to the A1 Network of the TU Wien is free of charge within the scope of the BBG contract. If, however, a one-time fee has been charged on the A1 invoice for this service, please contact the TU.it immediately, stating the telephone number concerned. A1 will then arrange for this fee to be credited to one of the next invoices.

Procurement of service mobile phones (Info-Mail 01/2019 Department Finance-FB Quästur):
