If "Call waiting" is activated for an extension, a possible second call is shown on the display. The second caller hears a "dial tone" instead of a "busy signal". Only for the third caller is the extension considered "Busy".
All you have to do is announce your extension. You control yourself whether an incoming call rings on the fixed telephone, rings in parallel on your (business) mobile phone, lands in the voicemail box or is sent as a voice message to your email address. When calling from a (service) mobile phone, your call partner sees the extension and not the mobile number. If you wish, you can also control this via a web browser or your (service) mobile phone.
During a telephone call, you can switch from a fixed telephone to a (service) mobile phone virtually uninterruptedly or vice versa.
The administration of the own accessibility profile is possible by means of a web browser.
Your own personal profile can be used by validation on any telephone set.
Personal directories and lists of missed, accepted and dialed numbers are available to you - as is usual with mobile phones.
Voice messages can be saved. If desired, they can also be forwarded by email as a .wav file.
You gain convenience through the combination of all communication services (voice, video, data) and the integration of presence functions - as known from instant messaging.

The entire telephone administration is done exclusively electronically. TUphone users have access to existing configurations via TISS , opens an external URL in a new windowand can make their own changes.
A status display of group members as well as the transfer of conversations or a quick selection of group members are available.
SIP telephones are based on VoIP and use the SIP protocol. You can use any SIP client (including public domain) as a softphone. This is primarily intended for TU employees whose workstations do not run Windows or Mac.
The configuration (and its designation) depends on the respective SIP client. For the Realm or Domain parameter, enter tuphone.tuwien.ac.at. The client should then automatically use one of the two redundant SIP registrars. The use of DNS/SRV records may still have to be activated (depending on the client). As Authentication User (SIP credentials) the TUphone username (and password) is to be used as set in the TISS. The extension must be set as the user. First name and surname of the user as display name.
The following codes are supported: G.711ulaw, G.711alaw, G.729r8, G.729a, G.729b, iLBC, G.722.
If the client does not support DNS/SRV records, the SIP registrar (cmfh5.srv.tuphone.tuwien.ac.at or cmgh5.srv.tuphone.tuwien.ac.at, usually only one of them can be configured) must be specified.
Please note that when using firewalls and the VPN service (necessary if the SIP client is to be used outside the TU Wien), corresponding and complex configurations are required.
In Call Flow, you can define how external calls are to be handled in the case of "Busy" or "Not reachable". The TUphone profile of TISS offers the following choices
- Switching without voicemail box
- Switchboard and voicebox
- Freely selectable substitute (or secretary) without voicemail box
- Freely selectable substitute (or secretary) and voicemail box

Parallel ringing with official mobile phone (A1 Network of TU Wien)
If the workstation model contains the "Mobility" function and the owner of an extension also has a business mobile phone in the A1 Network of the TU Wien, parallel ringing can be configured.
In the TUphone profile of TISS, the icon Setting (Gear) is to be used for this and then the check mark for activation is to be set.
This means that when a call comes in, the landline starts ringing first. After the set call signal delay, the call is also signalled in parallel to the mobile phone (here a further delay of approx. 5 seconds is to be expected until the mobile phone really starts ringing). The call can then be received on the landline as well as on the mobile phone. It is also possible to switch to the other device during the call. If a call is accepted, the telephone charges between the private branch exchange and an A1 Network mobile phone are due on the extension for which parallel ringing has been configured.
Parallel Ringing with Other Remote Destination
Similar to business mobile phones, a parallel ringing can be configured by the TUphone authorizer with another Austrian mobile or landline number. Activation and deactivation is possible by the owner of the extension himself. Please note that higher telephone charges apply here than for parallel ringing with the A1 Network mobile phone.
The following call diversions can be set for an extension:
The call is immediately and always (for all internal and external calls) diverted to another number. This function can also be set directly on the telephone.
If the phone is currently speaking, an internal call is diverted to the specified phone number.
If the subscriber does not log in for the time specified under "Ringing time", an internal call is forwarded to the specified destination.
The destination number must be an existing extension (incl. 90nnnn service mobile phone). Any call costs will be charged to the diverting extension!
Voicemails are always routed to the voicemail box of the forwarded extension.
TISS offers the possibility to define several call diversion profiles. However, only one can be active at a time.
