Safety aspects

The data is not stored somewhere in the cloud, but on servers of the TU Wien.
The data transfer is encrypted.
For this service, only self-encrypting hard disks with 128-bit AES encryption (certified according to US government security certification FIPS2) are used. This prevents unauthorized access in the event of repair, reuse or disposal.
For data with increased protection requirements, also recommends encrypting the data with TrueCrypt or an alternative product before synchronization (see TrueCrypt alternatives for data encryption, opens an external URL in a new window).


A (building) redundant infrastructure for both the servers and the storage system ensures high availability.

Please do not keep your data exclusively on the TUownCloud server - which would theoretically be possible with administration via the web browser - but synchronize it with at least one device (PC, notebook).
