Students: With the TUaccount you have access to your student account (initial), the network account and other services, such as SSO authentication.
Employees: Your TUaccount is the key to other services, such as upTUdate, the network account, online account management and other services, such as SSO authentication.
Students: Students who have chosen a TUaccount password in the course of their first admission to the TU Wien and who have applied for a TISS study program, opens an external URL in a new window will automatically be set up a TUaccount (user name: <matriculation number>) with this password.
If the contribution to the account of the TU Wien has not been received within four weeks, the account loses its validity.
Employees of the TU Wien: Employees (the staff of the TU Wien) and so-called "other employees" (persons registered by the address manager) receive the TUaccount from the address manager of the respective organisational unit.

For all others:
Students can get a new password at the TU.it Service Center (Operngasse 11, ground floor). Please bring your student ID.
Note: Students who are also in the staff of the TU Wien can also get their password via the address manager.
TU employees can get a new password from the address manager of the organisational unit.
The TUaccount password can be changed in TISS (log in to tiss.tuwien.ac.at, opens an external URL in a new window)
Persons who are no longer or not yet listed in the TISS address book can enter via the authentication portal: https://login.tuwien.ac.at/en/portal, opens an external URL in a new window
Students can also change the TUaccount password at this address: https://login.tuwien.ac.at/en/passwort, opens an external URL in a new window (the student server password can also be changed there).
The TISS address book does not show all people saved in the TU.it personal database, but rather the current daily staff status. In the TU.it personal database, however, there are people who have belonged to the TU in past, or for future semesters. For these there is an entry point under https://login.tuwien.ac.at/portal, opens an external URL in a new window, where the password can be changed.
It should also be noted that the search function in the address book is separated according to students (only validly confirmed) and staff.
If you retire from the staff of the TU Wien, the TUaccount remains valid for one year. A registered email forwarding remains valid until further notice.
For students with an account for the Internet services, the TUaccount remains valid for one semester after the end of the enrolment.
Under the organisational unit to which you belong, you will find the person(s) you need to contact in the address book for additional functions under "Address Manager".
Your upTUdate account also provides access to many other services, such as TUownCloud, TUproCloud, TUfiles, TUhost, TUwiki, TicketSystem, or TUinsight, in addition to your calendar function.
Please activate your upTUdate email function by activating your account in Online Account Management, opens an external URL in a new window:
- First select "My Accounts", then select the account "upTUdate". Now you can activate your mailbox under "Change" with a mouseclick.
- The user name is default; you can set an upTUdate password here.
Mails that are deleted from the trash will remain available on the server for 90 days for a possible recovery! (Option in MS Outlook: Restore deleted items from the server).
The network account for employees of TU Wien includes authorisations for the use of the following services:
- Lecture halls and seminar rooms with TUnet connection
- Outgoing mail router (sending emails)
The validation is carried out by means of email@example.com
Every new member of staff of the TU Wien will automatically receive an account. Registered in the TISS address book, opens an external URL in a new window, "other employees" can apply for an account via our online account management system, opens an external URL in a new window.
Study assistants use their student account for the WLAN and VPN service.
Username: is automatically generated from first name and last name
Password: initially the TUaccount password
The responsible address manager will provide your username as employee and will also set you the TUaccount password (if this does not already exist).

The account expires when you leave the TU Wien.

If the contribution is not received on the account of the Vienna University of Technology within four weeks, the account will lose its validity.
Please note that the correct login user name for your TUaccount is exclusively the 8-digit matriculation number WITHOUT leading letters!
If your login still does not work, you have to reset your password with the mobile signature because the password specifications had to be technically adapted.
- All students of the TU Wien, who have an open degree and who are registered (confirmed) for the current semester. (Information on studying in Austria at http://www.bmwf.gv.at/).
- Students who are temporarily on leave from the university (presence or community service, ...) are eligible for the leave of absence.
- Mobile students (Erasmus and other programs) are eligible for the duration of the admission.
- Participants in university courses are eligible for the duration of the course.
- Extraordinary students.
Students who do not continue to study without being on leave (that is, admission to study has expired).
If a student loses admission to study at the TU Wien (examination by the Study and Examinations Department of the TU Wien), permission to use the account will expire, in which case secure email accessibility, the validity of the account of TU.it is extended until the end of the period of grace, the next semester (in the winter semester until November 30th or in the summer semester until April 30th).
Information about the upcoming deletion of the account (with all data), will be sent by three emails (two months and one month before the final deletion) by TU.it to the corresponding account.
All students will be entered in the TISS. The TISS entry is retained until the account is deleted.
